Boston Legal was one of the nation’s most popular television series that ran for five season between 2004 and 2008. It first aired on October 3 of 2004 and it’s final episode ran on December 8 of 2008. It is just one of the mainstream pop cultural aspects that featured Boston as its setting and whenever a city is the setting or sometimes even the subject of a major television series or film, tourism increasing greatly while it is being shown. And while the city of Boston has always had a great deal of tourist interest, the show brought a new population of visitors to the city. Many of the fine rooms in area hotels were filled with people who were interesting in visiting the law offices of Crane, Poole and Schmidt.

The show was known for its original approach to script format and presentational style. One of the periodic occurrences was to break through the fourth wall. This is typically a phrase that is applied to theatrical productions. With the series characters would sometimes refer to themselves as characters or the series directly. The show also represented much of the pride associated with the city of Boston and commonwealth of Massachusetts and would deal with contemporary legal and social issues. Throughout the show’s run it won five Emmy Awards.
