Ankle sprains and torn ligaments take a very long time to heal. And when they do heal, it is often quite a while before they regain their original strength. During this healing process they may be quicker to twist or give out, and physical therapy is often necessary to rebuild those muscles and ligaments. This is basically medically supervised exercise, which may cause the ankle, or any area of injury, to become sore. I have broken one ankle, and ripped the ligaments in the other. What was recommended to me both times was hydrotherapy. We had a spa in the backyard, much like the many that can be found at choosehottubsdirect.com.

This was perfect as it was recommended that the ankles be soaked alternately in cold water, and then the hot tub. The first thing this did was to increase blood circulation to the injured area that was to promote the healing. And the second aspect was that the warm water provided buoyancy. All of the weight was taken off of the ankle. This is also the beneficial effects that a hot tub will have on those suffering from arthritis. The warm water relieved the tense muscles that were surrounding the injury, and it relieved some of the pain as well.

Soaking in a hot tub will serve to release your endorphins, thus further easing the pain and relieving the stress. Not only of the injured area of your body, the entire body itself. Joint and muscle flexibility will improve, as well as the regeneration of healthy tissue, and for these reasons many sports injury facilities have chosen to incorporate the use of hot tubs. Sustaining a painful injury will cause stress in the entire body and may result in the inability to sleep at night. But soaking in the tub will not only heal the body, but the mind as well. For sleep will be deeper after a good long soak, ensuring the road to recovery will become shorter.
