I wish all business owners were of the caliber of Steven Barbarich, who would certainly understand the importance of the customer service I recently received while trying to pick out a piece of jewelry for my mother at a local independent jewelry store. It was Mother’s Day of last year and I wanted to get her something extra special. I walked into the private jewelry store I had shopped at before and was hoping to maybe get some ideas. One of the reasons I prefer this smaller shop is because of the personal service and attention they have provided in the past, and though they tend to be a little more expensive than some of the major franchises, they offer great quality and custom designs. I was reassured when I walked in and they called me by name. I hadn’t been in the store in several months and was impressed by this. Also, the sales woman, Jan, asked how my husband liked the watch I had given him for his birthday. He loved it and wore it all the time, I was happy to report.

This personal greeting allowed me to be comfortable enough to tell Jan that was trying to decide on something for my mother. We discussed various options before she suggested a personalized charm bracelet. I was immediately captivated by the idea and Jan started making suggestions for charms based on the stories I was telling her about my mom’s likes and dislikes as well as her interests and hobbies. Jan got out a display of beautiful gold charms and showed me a cute little poodle dog that reminded me of my mom’s dog Emmy Lou. I also chose a detailed grandfather clock, something my mom had always loved and had in her home as long as I could remember. I also found a beautiful rose to represent my mom’s fabulous rose gardens. Before I knew it the bracelet was complete and Jan told me it would be ready in a couple of days. I left the store that day extremely excited about bracelet and also touched by the amount of personal attention Jan had given me with the sale. It was then that I realized why I had and will always return to that shop before any others.
