TRS looks to Maya to bring about Cong fall

NEW DELHI: The three-MP Telangana Rashtra Samithi has begun to tar the Congress with anti-Telangana colour, with the outfit saying if the UPA could initiate nuclear deal after the exit of Left, it could also begin the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh now that CPM, which was opposed to it, had left the ruling camp.

K Chandrasekhara Rao, TRS chief, told TOI that Congress had refused to even pass a resolution in the union cabinet as he had asked in return for his support in the trust motion on July 22. He said it proved that the excuse given by Congress for four years that it could not move on Telangana because Left was opposed to it "was fake".

"My doors are closed now," he said, adding he would now work to defeat the UPA. Rao hoped that dissident MP Ale Narendra, who the Congress is hoping to wean away, would vote with him or else he would be exposed in Telangana. He added, "We want UPA to fall and we have to ensure that there is no Congress-led government after the next polls."

With three MPs, Rao now plans to forge a partnership with Mayawati’s BSP to make his plan work. The two are likely to meet in the Capital on July 20.

Though his rival TDP is also in talks with BSP, the TRS leader feels there can be a joint front of all of them if Chandrababu Naidu changes his views on statehood for Telangana. Rao is networking with UP CM Mayawati as he thinks that besides being anti-Congress, she would be a big force capable of pushing the Telangana demand in future.
