Vacationing Close to Home in Fort Worth, Less Stressful and Less Expensive

On our last vacation we decided to make is a short trip and keep the cost down. We live in Dallas and thought lets simply book ourselves a room at a luxury Fort Worth hotels. A staycation as I am hearing it called in TV.
Considering the expense involved with traveling and the time to get somewhere further away. Plus the planning and packing when heading to somewhere where the climate is different is can be a stressful ordeal just preparing to go and getting there.
At fist it seemed silly to book hotel rooms only an hour away from home. But in retrospect it was a really good idea. We had one, if not the most relaxing vacation we have had in a very long time.
Our stay included messages, soaking in hot tubs, laying by the swimming pool and catching up on some reading that I have been wanting to get to.
With the money we saved on traveling we were able to pamper ourselves with fine dinners and drinks. Do some shopping and a full day of spa treatments for my wife.
She hasn’t stopped talking about how relaxing an experience it was and how she wants to do it again. I may have created a monster here.
The day she was getting her spa treatment I was able to get in a round of golf with some of the other guys staying at the hotel.
I really didn’t know how much fun it could be playing tourist in your own town but now I know. While hanging around the hotel pool we were able to meet some real tourists and had interesting conversation about where they were from and what brought them to Fort Worth. It is always interesting to meet new people and understand a little about them.
I cannot speak for my wife, but I sure wouldn’t hesitate to vacation locally like this again. It was very relaxing not having to worry about the traveling and I can’t help but think of the lessened environmental impact of vacationing close to home.
