Barcelona Street Art
Barcelona is one of the most splendidly stylish places in the modern world. Right in the heart of Europe, Barcelona is one of the great financial and creative capitals in the world. It offers a veritable feast of attractions for its citizens and for travelers, both urban and natural. It’s right on the Mediterranean Sea, and has enormously appealing beaches that attract nature-lovers, party-goers, and just about anyone who’s born with a pulse. The pulse of the city is also tremendously exciting, and always on the move, always changing. One of the most stylish ways, then, to see the city is at one of our 5 star Barcelona hotels. We’ve selected the cream of the crop here, so you can choose between excellent lodgings that will far exceed your expectations.
Like all 5 star hotels, ours offer sumptuous rooms with understated and elegant decor, as well as fantastic meals prepared by chefs who are studied in classical and contemporary cooking techniques. Barcelona is the best of the old and new worlds at once, and our accommodations are designed to mirror this gorgeous aesthetic. After you’ve had some luxurious rest and a scrumptious meal here, you’ll be ready to see what Barcelona is all about. One thing that’s immediately striking on the streets of Barcelona, after the architecture, is the graffiti.
Graffiti here is, like everything in Barcelona, amazing. It’s truly absolutely jaw-droppingly gorgeous. There are many different messages here, and some are more political than others, but there’s a spectacular sense of design going on. It appears in spaces where there’s an empty wall or a sidewalk, and a lot of traffic. Some of the artists are rather famous, and continuing in an old tradition of public art. The newer forms use more stencils, and the look is very hip, and has a kind of raw street elegance. Graffiti in Barcelona is not necessarily considered a public nuisance, and often enters into the realm of the museum.
Healing Sports Injuries in Hot Tubs
Ankle sprains and torn ligaments take a very long time to heal. And when they do heal, it is often quite a while before they regain their original strength. During this healing process they may be quicker to twist or give out, and physical therapy is often necessary to rebuild those muscles and ligaments. This is basically medically supervised exercise, which may cause the ankle, or any area of injury, to become sore. I have broken one ankle, and ripped the ligaments in the other. What was recommended to me both times was hydrotherapy. We had a spa in the backyard, much like the many that can be found at choosehottubsdirect.com.
This was perfect as it was recommended that the ankles be soaked alternately in cold water, and then the hot tub. The first thing this did was to increase blood circulation to the injured area that was to promote the healing. And the second aspect was that the warm water provided buoyancy. All of the weight was taken off of the ankle. This is also the beneficial effects that a hot tub will have on those suffering from arthritis. The warm water relieved the tense muscles that were surrounding the injury, and it relieved some of the pain as well.
Soaking in a hot tub will serve to release your endorphins, thus further easing the pain and relieving the stress. Not only of the injured area of your body, the entire body itself. Joint and muscle flexibility will improve, as well as the regeneration of healthy tissue, and for these reasons many sports injury facilities have chosen to incorporate the use of hot tubs. Sustaining a painful injury will cause stress in the entire body and may result in the inability to sleep at night. But soaking in the tub will not only heal the body, but the mind as well. For sleep will be deeper after a good long soak, ensuring the road to recovery will become shorter.
The Importance of Protecting Electronic Documents for Regulatory Compliance
Companies should seek to streamline their essential business processes. A significant amount of their sensitive information and proprietary information is contained in electronic documents. If these documents are not properly protected, then organizations are risking potential embarrassment and a high cost security breach as well as failing to implement worldwide Regulatory Compliance for privacy and corporate governance.
Ignoring the importance of addressing privacy leaks and the security of information contained in electronic documents will be extremely expensive and will result in the possible loss of millions of dollars, harm to brand equity and reputation, negative publicity and shareholder lawsuits. Information theft is a rapidly growing illegal industry, harsh penalties have been enacted by governments worldwide to set strict privacy legislation, any non-compliance will result in heavy fines and imprisonment.
Regulatory compliance benefits businesses by offering a great opportunity to provide services more efficiently by reducing operational costs and extending the market range, which enables a more streamlined business practice. A good example is the digital signature replacing the ink signature in legal and financial transactions. By using digital signatures, all businesses can automate an organization process, like filing regulatory paperwork online or by conducting legally enforceable transactions without the need to print and process paper documents and forms.
The current methods of protecting electronic documents are inadequate. Many security strategies are now focusing on protecting electronic documents at a storage location. This approach does not adequately protect the content of the electronic document. The protection is lost when the document reaches the end user. Plus, it can be unintentionally forwarded to and viewed by an unauthorized recipient.
To make sure that all electronic documents are managed in a way that complies with regulations, promotes operational efficiency and mitigates risk, businesses
must be able to effectively track and protect electronic documents at all times. Not just in transmission or at a secure location. Access and audit usage needs to be managed at the document level and throughout a document’s life cycle, no matter where it rests, on a mobile laptop, a corporate network or with a business partner or even a government agency.
Canadian Expansion
Canadian Expansion north to Canada we will be needing commercial space and some short term residential property for employees to stay in temporally while in Canada getting the operation running. Being the size of this task and the enormity of the challenge I am not sure where to begin. I started to research commercial properties in Canada and I came across Transglobe property management on Flickr. They show pictures of the company employees, CEO, and properties as I would have expected, however I was impressed with the additional photos showing the involvement of the company in the local community. Participation in local events and celebrations and parades. They give to women’s shelters, ride for cancer cures and walk for heart research. Not only do they come off with a professional air but are clearly good corporate citizens participating in and giving back to the communities they serve.
Transglobe property management looks like a young company with big ambitions and looks like they have the plan in place to achieve their goal. Maintaining some 5 million square feet of commercial property and some 20 thousand plus residential units. Looks like this company has the inventory and expertise to work out solutions to our problems and issues with getting operations going north of the border.
After checking the ratings with the Better Business Bureaus in Canada I feel we are on the right track and having their involvement in locating suitable properties will be key in our successful expansion into Canada. We will need to set up some meetings to communicate our needs and desires and find out what level of service they can offer us for this expansion.
Hot Tubs, Aromatherapy and Yoga
Hot tubs are frequently associated with backyard parties, barbeques and entertainment. Images associated with them usually include large groups of happy people enjoying themselves in a beautiful atmosphere. These images and associations are all true, although a growing interest in the health benefits of private hot tubs is gaining attention in today’s market. Whatever the reason an individual or family decides to invest in a hot tub, professional advice is always a benefit and sometimes essential to making the right decisions. Choosehottubsdirect.com is a great resource for the best hot tubs and associated products as well as its information assistance.
One of the obvious health related associations to hot tubs is relaxation and peace. This is an obvious benefit and adding aromatherapy elements greatly increases this potential. Aromatherapy is becoming more common in daily schedules and has been validated as a contributor to healthy lifestyles. Growing scientific evidence supports its effects on overall mood, attitude and mental functioning and studies continue to explore other health related benefits. Most of the oils used in these therapies comes from various plants foliage material. This can be not only therapeutic but also aesthetically appealing when the surrounding landscape is designed to enhance or compliment the aromatherapy oils used.
Yoga is another popular exercise and health maintenance activity. It is extremely popular to complete a yoga workout in the beauty of the natural outdoor atmosphere and conclude it by relaxing in the hot tub. Water yoga is also growing in interest and popularity, though this is usually done in pools. While certain poses and stretches are possible in hot tubs it should be remembered that one of the purposes of yoga is to direct the flow of heat through the body and hot tubs can might alter this. While performing yoga outside the hot tub is greatly recommended, it is encouraged to use caution if desiring to do this in the tub.
Always “Know Your Customer”
The efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation over the past years has been on the detection, the investigation and the prosecution of cases of money laundering, bribery and fraud, be it tax evasion, or the inaccurate keeping of a company or and individuals records and accounting information. Cases of corporate corruption are still wide spread today and most of time involves the falsification of those books, with the intention of hiding a company’s true state of their financial holdings and status. The intention is to hide this information from prospective investors and potential clients
Many white collar crimes are cases of this nature and they affect the shareholders, the customers and the employees. Every daily interaction is based on false information. Stock holders and investors get manipulated, as well as employees who may not know that what they are doing at any given moment, could be breaking the law. These scams affect too, innocent citizens throughout the country, as in the corruption scams involving the losses of the life savings of many people. This has a detrimental effect on the entirety of the nation’s economy, every level of it. Not only is money lost at that moment, but future investors may decide to take their business elsewhere.
It is for these reasons that corporations must practice the “know your customer” policy. For not only do they put themselves at risk financially, they can put themselves at risk of federal investigations, based on dealings they have had with these types of clients and companies that aer committing the acts of fraud and corruption To know your customer is just knowing all that you can know about the people and the corporations with whom one is either considering doing business, or those with whom they are currently involved. This policy must be practiced regularly, being consistently thorough is the key for success in accomplishing the collection of the knowledge necessary.
ASU No Longer a Party School
Each year the Princeton Review surveys approximately 120,000 college students for their opinions on several different aspects their college experience. They then compile a list ranking each university based on its academic experience, professors, demographics, town life, politics, extracurricular activities, and social scene. For several years Arizona State University, ASU, has held one the top positions on the Princeton Review’s list of party schools; number 3 in fact. However, with the release of the 2008 results ASU has fallen all the way to number 17; much to the delight of the faculty and staff.
However one cannot help but question what might have caused this sudden rise in sobriety.
One answer might be ASU’s ever increasing desire to be a top research facility. With its great developments in space and science technology, the W.P. Carey School of Business, and wide range of graduate degrees, ASU is quickly becoming recognized more for the excellent education it provides than for great parties. This helps to draw students who are more serious about their studies than getting drunk every weekend.
Another answer might be the high number of transfer students that ASU accepts each year. Especially in the state of Arizona where there are many junior colleges as well as the Maricopa Community Colleges, it is easier for new high school graduates to attend a two-year college first before attending a university; especially since you will be paying a lot more. Not only is community college less expensive, but students can get their partying phase done before they move on to more serious studies at the university level.
On the other hand perhaps students just want to enjoy their college experience without any road blocks along the way. Excessive consumption of alcohol and drugs can lead to addiction and addiction can lead to hard life with a long road to healing; including alcohol drug intervention, addiction treatment, and drug rehab. Maybe our kids are maturing faster than we think.
Discover religious history of Hawaii while on vacation
Hawaii travel offers more than just the expected things tourists have come to associate with the beautiful island. It also has a rich religious background. The first settlers of the island actually came from Polynesia in 1000 A.D. They also settled the island with their established gods and goddesses and beliefs about them. To this day, Pele, the fierce goddess whose dominion is the volcanoes of Hawaii, remains a fixture in Hawaii’s religious culture, with some people still adhering to the ancient belief system that the Polynesians brought with them. Those ancient people thought that she resided in the deep burning lava that bubbled threateningly beneath Kilauea.
Pele is an example of how not all the goddesses were earth mothers. Some were just as fierce as the warrior gods that took up space in the religious pantheon. Kihawahine, a water goddess, and Laka, a forest goddess, despite their associations with nature, were just as big and bad as some of the gods associated with battle and destruction.
However, this ancient belief system was challenged in the early 19th century by King Kamehameha. Christianity was starting to take over as the new religion of the isle through the many successful campaigns missionaries made to the island. Yet, there was still a large amount of religious diversity, especially when the Chinese and Japanese started to settle the island, bringing their home religions of Buddhism and Shintoism . other Asian immigrants have added even more rich spiritual diversity to the island. Philippines, Japanese, and Koreans have all contributed to the ever-widening spiritual belief system. Much like the United States, Hawaii is like a concentrated version of its country, a mixed salad of almost every belief system out there. Still, when many people come to Hawaii, they expect the old religious traditions that the Polynesians first brought with them. The ceremonies, dances, names, these things are still remembered, but the reason for them is slowly passing away.
Nevertheless, for people who want more of their Hawaii cruises or vacations, more than just the usual luaus and leis, there are still old holy sites around to see, though many are not much more than crumbling ruins. They were not grand temples or buildings of any sort, but rather stone walls that displayed carvings of those fierce goddesses and gods originally brought to the island.
A family that cared in Irvine
I arrived around midnight and I thought to myself, I need a really good nights sleep if I’m going to be seeing the Harrison’s by 11am. I managed to find that there were still some hotels Irvine had available at a very reasonable price and booked a room for the day, even though I wouldn’t be spending the night, I still needed some rest from my journey and a good hot shower. My arrival was a tad earlier than expected, do to some misunderstanding on my part with my flight itinerary. So, I know the Harrison’s weren’t expecting me until much later.
I was really looking forward to meeting the people who friended me while I was down and out. About eight years ago, I was down on my luck, when the Harrison’s spotted me sleeping on the street. They offered me a place to stay for a few days, if I’d like, I saw that they had two children in the car with them and I couldn’t help wonder what kind of people would trust a complete stranger to be with their children in their home? But, I was so hungry and in need of a decent nights sleep, I took them up on their offer.
Most of my interactions with people had spawned either out of random meeting on the street, or people who had simply let me crash on their sofas. But, this meeting with the Harrison’s was completely different. Here was a young family of 4, husband, wife, son and daughter that had bought into the idea that bringing me, a street person into their very busy and structured world, just to be nice. The Harrisons were a family that was always on the run, living an extremely busy life, juggling school, kids activities, work and home life. I initially thought to myself, how do they plan to fit me into all of this? But, I didn’t need to worry, because I instantly became the fifth wheel, the fifth member of the family. They fed me, cleaned my wounds, entertained me and the most important to me, a good nights sleep.
So, here I am, eight years later, a well adjusted man, ready to thank the family that saved me from a life out on the streets, just because they cared.
Singapore 2008 Theatre Festival
The Singapore Theatre Festival in the summer of 2008 was one of the season’s definite highlights, and major events. It was also one of the most successful festival seasons on record. The festival ran from August 6 through the 24th of that year, and many intriguing and progressive productions surprised, entertained, and inspired audiences. Guests who were in town during August of last year and stayed at one of the Singapore luxury hotels were certainly lucky to enjoy the performances presented that year.
Some of the remarkable offerings from that festival include The Swordfish, then The Concubine, I am Queen and Tree/House. In addition to great theatre and performance, other activities presented at the festival included free forums on Art and Life Sessions. The Swordfish, then The Concubine has been reconized for its great humor relating to mythology and political themes it contains. The satrie has a unique way of addressing contemporary political issues with history. I am Queen is set in the 50s and deals with some extremely traumatic situations and events. Tree/House is an incrible two part play that deals with the concept of memory, and the retention of a collective history in imesh in a technolgical world that remembers for us and may erase personal and collective identity and memory.
The Art and Life Sessions were free to the public and dealt with various themes such as race, the performance of race and potential controversies. The question of a Singaporean specific race was asked and discussed. There were other paneled discussions, and one of them dealt with society’s unsung heroes and other was about the art and craft of playwrighting and the playwright’s purpose. Another of the discussions dealt with a potential future of environmentally concsious and preserving citizens. This brought into question concept of free press, democratic views and what the future might possess. All of these workshop panels were intended to demonstrate the connection between art and life.
